The 7th grade girls basketball team was back in action last night hosting the Sheridan Blackhawks. Once again Molly Rausch controlled the tip and the stars were off out scoring the Blackhawks 11-2 in the first quarter. The stars tough defense lead to multiple fast break opportunities allowing the stars transition offense to see continued improvement throughout the game. The stars were lead in scoring by Ella Oakley with 17, Ady Nicley 15, and Bryar King, Molly Rausch, Katie Gott and Khloe Dunavent adding 2 a piece. The Stars fought an uphill battle Wednesday night, falling to Sheridan 46-10. Short handed by sickness, several players had to step up to the challenge of playing new roles. Ashton Pelley filled in as point guard and did a solid job against a relentless trapping defense from the Blackhawks. It took a couple of possessions for her to get comfortable, but you could see her confidence grow all night. Her performance opens up a new dynamic for the team’s offense moving forward. Brooklyn Wagner stepped up for the team by leading the Stars with six very hard earned points. Madison Monks provided tremendous defensive pressure creating havoc and giving the Blackhawks trouble the entire game. The Stars travel to Frankfort next Tuesday, still looking to put one in the win column.
