Western Boone Wrestling Competes in Columbus North Invitational

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the Western Boone wrestling team traveled to Columbus to compete in five dual meets. The wrestling team saw some tough competition but managed to walk away with a 3-2 record on the day. Three wrestlers, Trey Fuston (138), Cale Scagnoli (120), and Jacob Smith (215) led the Stars with each winning four of their five matches. Webo first competed against a tough team from Columbus North. The Bulldogs bested the Stars, 51-21. Winning Western Boone grapplers were Jaxsyn Matthews (113), Cale Scagnoli, Isaiah Garland (132), and Jacob Smith. Next, the Stars were challenged by Cascade. Again, the wrestlers’ efforts were thwarted by the Cadets, losing 22-57. Cale Scagnoli, Jacob Anderson, Trey Fuston, and Broden Wilson (165) were able to victorious in their bouts. Third in line for the Stars were the Cubs from Madison. This dual showcased some tough wrestling from Kameron Mikesell (157) and Trey Fuston who were each able to battle for wins. Other winning wrestlers were Jaxsyn Mathews, Cale Scagnoli, Andres Morales (150), Jacob Smith, and Jackson Bloss (106). Once the dust settled, Western Boone had eked out a victory, 37-35. Webo managed to get a more convincing win (44-27) over their fourth opponent, the Monrovia Bulldogs. David Puckett (175) had the performance of the dual with a second period pin over his opponent. Trey Fuston, Lincoln Rose (144), Kameron Mikesell, Broden Wilson, Heath Williams (190), and Jackson Bloss were also winners for the Stars. The final dual of the day pitted the Eagles of Brown County against Western Boone. It was a dominate performance for the Stars as they won 76-6. Winning wrestlers were Jackson Bloss, Jaxsyn Mathews, Cale Scagnoli, Jacob Anderson, Isaiah Garland, Trey Fuston, Lincoln Rose, Andres Morales, Kameron Mikesell, Broden Wilson, David Puckett, Jacob Smith, and Jackson Jones (285). The wrestlers have a short turnaround, as both the boys and girls teams travel to Tri-West on Monday (12/16). Wrestling starts at 6:30pm.
