Star swimmers compete against Athenians

The Western Boone boys and girls swim teams travelled to Crawfordsville Tuesday evening to compete against the Athenians. The boys started their evening finishing 1st in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Jacob Norman, Jude Balke, Isaac Threlkeld, and Chase Collier with a time of 1:53.74, and 3rd with the team of Ethan Barnett, Liam Whitely, Malachi Catterson, and Zach Connors (2:03.32). Jacob Norman captured 1st place in the 200 Free (1:55.03) and 1st in the 100 yard Backstroke (1:03.54), and Isaac Threlkeld finished 1st in the 100 yard Butterfly (1:00.72). Brayden Schick finished 3rd in the 50 yard Free (29.16), and Xander Rouse fought for 2nd place in diving with a score of 155.10. Zach Connors finished 2nd in the 100 yard free (56.33) with Jude Balke on his heels finishing 3rd (58.28). Chase Collier (6:00.84), Ethan Barnett (6:01.57), and Henry Biggs (6:04.17) swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 500 yard Free. Alex Crockett took home a new personal record in the 100 yard Breaststroke (1:17.54), and the boys finished the evening with another first place win in the 400 yard Free Relay (3:45.75). The boys fought hard but fell short by 4 points with a final score of 89 to 93. For the girls team Rebecca Rustin came in 3rd in the 200 free (2:30.38), and Eisley Whitely swam for a new season best time of 2:48.98 in the 200 IM. Kyndal Dickerson finished 3rd with a new personal record in the 50 free (30.23), and Joan Gearheart got 1st place in diving with a score of 128.35. Jenna Twitty finished 3rd in the 100 yard Butterfly (1:13.66), and 2nd in the 100 yard Backstroke (1:13.05). Evie Maurath captured 3rd in the 100 yard Free (1:08.57), and the team of Kyndal Dickerson, Evie Maurath, Eisley Whitely, and Rebecca Rustin finished 2nd in the 200 Free Relay (2:03.10). Adalyn Sartan swam for a new personal record in the 200 yard Backstroke (1:46.12), and the girls took 2nd and 3rd place in the 400 Free Relay. Despite their best efforts the girls team was outmatched by Crawfordsville finishing with a final score of 125 to 51. The Stars will compete again this Thursday at Webo against Tri-West and North Montgomery.
