Webo Cross Country teams compete in the Hokum Karem over weekend

The Webo Stars Cross Country team traveled to Danville on Saturday morning to compete in the Hokum Karem. The Hokum Karem is a unique relay race in which each runner is paired with one of their teammates to run a total of 6 miles with each athlete running 3 miles. The girls were up first and the team of Joan Gearheart and Charlotte Stucky crossed the line first for the Stars finishing 6th out of 36 total pairs. Janelle Gearheart and Kate Higer paired up to get 20th, Claire Torp and Rosie Rogers teamed up to take 26th place, and Adalyn Sartin and Jenna Twitty paired up to take 30th. The girls team got 3rd place overall out of 13 schools competing. The boys varsity race was up next and Edoardo Carapia and Aiden Lester teamed up to take 9th place out of 46 total pairs. Brayden Schick and Alex Crockett were next to cross the line for the Stars and finished 28th. Eli Bishop and Brawn Puckett teamed up to finish in 44th place. The combined boys and girls reserve race completed the day with athletes running a total of 2 miles. Kole Nelson finished with a time of 14:04 snagging the 8th place ribbon, and Brentton Palmer finished 36th with a time of 16:25. Jaili Torp finished 15th for the girls with a time of 18:37, followed by Harmony Gilbrech in 16th with a time of 18:44. Autumn Palmer finished strong in 19th place (20:43) and Katrina Brewer finished 23rd (23:20). The Stars will compete in Leap Into September on Tuesday evening at Southmont High School.
