Cross Country teams compete at Harrison Invitational

The Western Boone Stars Cross Country team competed in their first race of the season in Lafayette Saturday at the Harrison Invitational facing 13 opposing teams and fierce competition. The girls team finished 6th, led by Charlotte Stucky with a time of 22:53 in 19th place. Joan Gearheart came in 32nd with a time of 23:56, Kate Higer was 40th with a 24:36, Janelle Gearheart finished in 26:59 followed by Claire Torp (29:18), Rosie Rogers (29:41), Adalyn Sartin (30:04), Jenna Twitty (31:27), Jaili Torp (31:39) and Autumn Palmer with a 35:44. The boys team finished 11th and were led by Edoardo Carapia in 21st place with a time of 18:38. Aiden Lester finished in 39th place with a 19:32, then Alex Crockett in 20:42, Brayden Schick (22:31), Brawn Puckett (23:02), Eli Bishop (23:22) and Brenton Palmer with a 28:52. This was a great start to the season with all of the returning runners improving their times over last year at this same event,and the new members of the team brought great efforts and positive mental attitudes to get the work done on the course. The Stars will compete next weekend in the Shelbyville Small School Invite at the Blue River Memorial Park.
