The 8th Grade Girls Basketball team opened their season against the Frankfort Hotdogs on Tuesday night, coming out with a 29-6 victory. The Stars jumped on the Hotdogs early, opening the game with a 12-1 opening run and never looked back. The team was led in scoring by newcomer Vivyan Haltom who put up 16 points in her Western Boone Star debut. Elle McLaughlin followed that with her own 9 points, while Raina Lutz and Kaelynn Grant added a bucket each and controlled the paint on the defensive and rebounding end. The 7th grade girls’ basketball team hosted Frankfort on Tuesday night for their home opener. The Lady Stars lost 40-19 against a strong shooting performance from the Hot Dogs. The Stars competed in the first half with a 11-19 score at the break but struggled in the second half to find their rhythm and defensive intensity. The team was lead in scoring by Lyla Kinsler with 6, followed by Caydence Paris with 5, Jerzie Nelson with 4, Jolie Lawson with 2, and Aubree Anderson with 2. Brooklyn Wagner did her best to hustle and hold her ground in the paint leading the team in rebounds. The 7th and 8th Grade Lady Stars will be in Lebanon on Thursday evening, 1/18/24, for their next game starting at 6pm.
