Stars sweep Athenians in Girls Basketball

The Lady Stars battled conference rival Crawfordsville on Tuesday night, coming away with a great 61-38 team win. The Stars went into the game focused and ready to go, determined get their second win against Crawfordsville of the season. The intensity started from the beginning of the game on both ends of the court, with the Stars putting up 18 points and holding the Athenians to 6 points in the first quarter. Crawfordsville fought back in the second quarter, cutting the Stars' lead to 11 going into halftime. The Lady Stars regrouped and made some defensive adjustments going into the second half, looking to slow the Athenians' offensive opportunities. The team had a solid third quarter on both ends of the court, holding Crawfordsville to 5 points and putting up 19 points on the board. The aggressiveness continued for the remainder of the game, contributing to the overall great team win. Four Lady Stars finished with double digits in the scoring catering, with the team being led by Ally Lewis with 14 points, Ila Stokes with 13 points, Emmerson Gott with 12 points, and Ki'erra Koch with 11 points. The Stars are back in action on Friday as they travel to Frankfort to face the Hot Dogs in another conference match up. Go Lady Stars! The JV Girls Basketball team traveled to Crawfordsville Tuesday for a game that challenged both teams on the offensive side. Webo applied great defensive pressure but were met with the same resistance on the other end of the court going into the half up only 13 to 8. In the third quarter, the Stars still struggled offensively despite controlling the momentum defensively going into the fourth up 18 to 15. But in the last quarter they rallied on both sides of the court to finish the game 37 to 17.
