Stars defeat Hot Dogs in Varsity Swimming

The WeBo swimming and diving teams traveled to Frankfort on Thursday night and came away with a double win against the Hot Dogs. The girls ended with a final score of Western Boone – 114, Frankfort – 65; the boys finished with a score of Western Boone – 112, Frankfort – 49. The medley relay team of Annabelle Mickschl, Hannah Hayden, Samantha Jones, and Kaitlyn Crowley started off the meet for the girls with a second-place finish. Arianna Stieber followed with the first Stars win in the 200 freestyle; Rebecca Rustin and Adalyn Sartin also placed third and fifth. In the 200-yard IM, Mickschl earned second place, followed in sixth for the Stars by Lily Talbott. In the 50-yard freestyle, the Stars finished 1-2-3 – taking first was S. Jones, followed by Hayden and Crowley respectively. Cara Hanna earned another win for the Stars in diving. Stieber, Jenna Twitty, and Crowley rounded up the top three places respectively for the Stars in a second event in the 100 fly. Adelaide Jones and S. Jones finished first and second in the 100 freestyle; Sartin finished fourth. Hayden and Micah Hole took the top two spots in the 500 freestyle. The 200 free relay team of A. Jones, Twitty, Crowley, and Stieber earned another win for the Stars. In the 100 backstroke, A. Jones and Twitty finished in first and second places, followed by Mickschl in fourth. Hole picked up another win for the Stars in the 100 breaststroke; Rustin and Talbott also placed fifth and sixth. The 400 freestyle relay team of Stieber, Hayden, S. Jones, and A. Jones kept the winning streak going through the final event of the evening. The boys had a perfect meet, winning every event. The medley relay team of Jacob Norman, Jude Balke, Isaac Threlkeld, and Alex Crockett kicked off the meet with the first win. Threlkeld kept the momentum going with a win in the 200 free, followed by Henry Biggs and Sam Hillger in third and fourth. Balke picked up a win in the 200 IM, and Crockett fought a close race to follow in second place. In the 50 freestyle, Malachi Catterson was the winner; Isaac Garringer also placed fifth. Xander Rouse won the diving event for the evening. Norman took the top spot in the 100 butterfly; Catterson finished in third. Artie Milliser and Hillger finished first and second in the 100 freestyle, followed by Garringer in fifth. Threlkeld earned a second individual win in the 500; Biggs followed in second. The 200 free relay team of Norman, Catterson, Balke, and Milliser were the top finishers for the relay. Norman and Milliser followed this with a 1-2 finish in the 100 backstroke. Balke and Crockett paired up once again for the top two spots in 100 breaststroke. Finishing out the evening with one final win was the 400 free relay team of Catterson, Milliser, Biggs, and Threlkeld.
