Last night, Western Boone Junior High XC traveled to Speedway to compete against the Speedway Sparkplugs for our second meet of the season. It was a hot evening, and the course presented an added challenge. With limited time before the race, our runners weren't able to preview the course beforehand, so they had to adjust and figure it out as they went. Despite those challenges, our runners showed great effort and determination! For the boys, Wyatt Delp led the Western Boone boys, finishing 3rd overall and 1st for Western Boone with a time of 12:59. Liam Sartin finished 5th overall and 2nd for Western Boone in 13:06. Gabriel Threlkeld came in 6th overall and 3rd for Western Boone with a time of 14:09. Daniel Trittin finished 7th overall and 4th for Western Boone in 16:11. There were a LOT of fast girls in this race, and our ladies stepped up to the challenge! Haley Trojnar finished 4th overall and 1st for Western Boone in 14:37. Kinley Bivens finished 6th overall and 2nd for Western Boone with a time of 16:03. Alisha Manning came in 9th overall and 3rd for Western Boone in 17:01. Ruthie Manning continued to improve, setting a new season PR with a time of 18:22, finishing 12th overall and 4th for Western Boone! Skyler Yarger finished 14th overall and 5th for Western Boone in 18:49. Taylor Martin and Lydia Boggs rounded out our girls' top seven with strong efforts as well. Racing in the heat, tackling an unfamiliar course, and continuing to compete when things aren't easy is all part of becoming a stronger runner. Great effort, Western Boone! Keep working, keep learning, and keep moving forward!
