Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The first round of the 8th grade girls MAAC tournament kicked off last night with the Western Boone Stars facing the North Montgomery Chargers. This would be the 3rd time in 2 weeks the Stars and Chargers would battle it out. Molly Rausch controlled the tip and the Stars scored first. The Chargers quickly answered getting to the foul line and knocking down a 3, but both defenses played tough resulting in a low scoring first quarter 5-5. The Stars found themselves down in the beginning of the 2nd but fought back with some key defensive steals to even it up at 12-12 going into half. The Stars settled in after half with a big offensive 3rd quarter scoring 11 while holding the Chargers to only 3, taking an 8 point lead into the 4th. The Stars defense was tough throughout the game and continued in the 4th holding the Chargers to 4 points. The Stars continued to get better on offense building on their lead to get a 32-19 victory. The Stars were lead in scoring by Ady Nicley 14, Ella Oakley 11, Bryar King 4 and Harper Nance 3.
