JH Boys Soccer The Western Boone junior high boys soccer team were locked in and played a tremendous game last evening, tying Crawfordsville 2-2. Crawfordsville scored 2 in the first half. Western Boone's Jackson Linton scored on a penalty kick after Crosby Kinsler earned it with his tenacious play in the box. The stars decided to give Andrew Castillo the difficult job of marking Crawfordsville's best player for the 2nd half. It worked and the stars didn't let in any goals the rest of the game. Brammer Lasley was the Webo goalie who had 9 saves on the night. The stars tied the game by sending 8 people down for a corner kick where they crashed the goal and caused confusion for the Athenians. The defense of Fritz Heine, Timothy Walker, Maison Lutz, and Joseph Boddicker played amazing by keeping the ball out of the middle and marking well. Wyatt Hardin played center midfield where there is constant action and distribution of the soccer ball. Lane Merrill, Jace Bloss, and Lucas Pemberton played great as well - making good decisions about containing the Crawfordsville players and crashing the goal when needed. Coach Walker is especially proud of the boys' attitudes and the fact that they bought into the game plan. The stars are 4-2-2 and play next Tuesday at Greencastle. JH Girls Soccer The jr. High girls soccer team was defeated by Crawfordsville on Thursday 8-0. Zoey Trent had an outstanding night in goal for the Stars, coming up big with 15 saves. Kora Kistler, Makayla Ward, and Emmy Whiteley also had strong performances. The team will travel to Greencastle on Tuesday for their final regular season match.
