The Western Boone 8th grade football team travelled to Frankfort on Tuesday night to take on the Hot Dogs, earning a 36-0 victory. The Stars would face some adversity, losing two key players early, while going up against a big and stubborn front that was limiting the Stars usual go to run plays. However, the Stars would respond by seeing players step in while having their numbers called more than usual and make big plays to keep the offense rolling. Blake Warmoth and Crew Gallimore would make key plays including a long rush (Warmoth) and three big receptions (Gallimore) on the way to 30 first half points. Scoring for the Stars in the first half were Blake Warmoth (1 TD rushing), Crew Gallimore (2 TDs receiving) and Connor Palmer (1 TD rushing), with Corey Boggs adding a conversion. With a running clock in the second half, Palmer would add another early TD and conversion, then the Stars were able to get rushes for a few new faces to the backfield, including Caleb Douglas, Jude Anderson, Tate Fields, Drake Wagner and Cody Bolen to run out the clock in the fourth. Defensively, the Stars had another strong effort, really only allowing one big play for the entire evening. The defense was highlighted by Blake Warmoth's two interceptions and relentless pass rush, mostly led by Drake Wagner. They would also secure a safety after pinning the Hot Dogs deep in their own territory and snapping the ball out of the back of the endzone. After a week off for the 7th grade, they will join the 8th for two games next week as the Stars host South Mont on Tuesday at 5:30 in the final home game of the season.
