STARS DEFEAT LEBANON IN 3: A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
By Jeremy Dexter | Sep 24, 2025 8:14 AM
Last night, the Webo Stars came out firing and took down rival school Lebanon in a thrilling three-set match that showed just how much heart and teamwork this team brings to the court. The energy was electric from the start as Sullie Smith opened the match with a dominant serving run, racking up the first 10 points straight and putting Webo ahead 10-0 before the Tigers even knew what hit them. However, Lebanon didn’t go down without a fight, clawing their way back to take a close first set, 22-25. Despite the tough loss in the opener, the Stars didn't hang their heads. Instead, they came back into the second set fired up and more focused than ever. The intensity, communication, and teamwork from that point on were unmatched as the Stars locked in, played smart, and kept the pressure on. Passes connected. Serves landed. Defense tightened. Energy soared. Webo stormed back to take the second set 25-16, and then closed the night with a commanding 15-8 win in the third, sealing the match and the rivalry win. ⭐ Player of the Game: Kenzie Mikesell ⭐ Kenzie stepped up in a huge way, showing off her versatility and commitment to the team. After rotating through nearly every position this season, she embraced a defensive role and absolutely shined in the back row. Her reads were sharp, her digs were crucial, and her communication was a game-changer—guiding the team through high-pressure moments with confidence and clarity. Late in the match, Kenzie was called on to serve during a tight moment, and she stepped up without hesitation. Her calm presence and hard work have paid off, especially after returning to the sport this year after sitting out a full season, she is all caught up. We’re proud to call her a Western Boone Star. Great job, Kenzie! All around, this was one of the cleanest matches of the season for the Stars, with the lowest number of missed serves and dropped balls to date. After a shaky first set, the team found their rhythm, reset mentally, and showed just how powerful they can be when playing together. With conference play approaching, this performance proves the Stars are hitting their stride at just the right time. Next up: North Montgomery on Thursday—and the Stars are coming in hot!
