The Western Boone 8th grade football team hosted new MAC opponent, Greencastle, on Tuesday night, securing a 38-6 victory. Despite a sloppy start by the team's standards, the Stars still led 14 -6 after the 1st quarter, thanks to Connor Palmer's opening kickoff touchdown (the second time in two weeks the Stars have returned the opening kickoff for a score), followed by his later 45 yard rushing touchdown. The rest of the Stars would respond after the sluggish start to put up 24 more points in the 2nd quarter. In addition to Palmer's two touchdowns, Jackson Potter would add two, Lukas Harrison would add one while securing three conversions, and Corey Boggs would add one conversion. Defensively, the Stars faced a relentless passing offense, looking to hit the big play over top on seemingly every snap. Though this approach did allow a couple of big plays and one score in the 1st, the defense was able to make more than its share of big stops and never allow any sustained drives against the all or nothing approach. The Star's physical style also drew several penalties from their opponent trying to slow them down while also producing a couple of big turnovers. The Stars hosted new MAC opponent the Greencastle Tiger Cubs on Tuesday evening and the Stars Defense Shined. The Defense lead upfront by Nate Muir, Brayden Newman, Kasen McKnight, Zane Rearden, Wyatt Redman, Spencer Worrell, Corbin Eckert, Gage Miller, Elijah Pastore (multiple sacks) and the Secondary of TJ McKinney, Cannon Dunk, Gunner Shirley (Interception), Carter Crahan, Austin Harlow shut down the Tiger Cub passing game. The Stars Defense did not allow a first down all game. Ty Williamson recovered a fumbled kickoff to give the Stars an extra possession. 7th Grade The Stars raced out to a 30-0 lead at halftime in large part due to the blocking of Levi Nelson, Easton Banks, Redman, Worrell, Eckert, Pastore opening huge holes and giving Bryson Potter time to throw. Bryson Potter threw TD passes to Carter Crahan and Blake Stokes, Crahan also had 2 rushing TDs. Miller added a conversion, and Austin Harlow capped the night off with a TD (Shirley conversion) leading the Stars to a 38-0 Victory. The Stars are back in action next Tuesday when they travel to North Mont and look to remain unbeaten and continue conference play.
