JH Cross Country gets underway at Southmont

The Western Boone Junior High Cross Country team opened its season with an impressive showing on the hilly and winding course at Southmont against Crawfordsville and Southmont. The boys' team captured first place with a score of 21 points to Crawfordsville’s 44. Leading the way for the Stars was Hayden Trenary, who claimed 1st place overall with a time of 12:57. Right behind him in 2nd place overall was Griffin Johanson at 12:59. Rounding out the top five for the Stars were Wyatt Delp (13:19), Liam Sartin (13:28), and Ari Smith (13:44). The Lady Stars also turned in strong performances, with every runner improving on their times from our recent mock meet. Skylar Yarger (18:25) showed remarkable progress by cutting 10 minutes off her mock meet time. Bristol McCord led the girls' Stars team with a 15:21 finish, followed closely by Haylee Trojnar (15:24) and Alisha Manning (16:42). Lydia Boggs also had a standout race, taking nearly 6 minutes off her mock meet time to finish coming in at 20:09. The Stars showed grit and determination in their first meet and look forward to building on this momentum throughout the season.
