The Western Boone 8th grade football team made their Monon Athletic Conference debut on Tuesday night, welcoming new conference foe Cascade. The Stars set a goal to make a great first impression in the new conference and get as many guys involved as possible, and they did just that in a 32-0 victory. On offense, Weston Richardson, Lukas Harrison and Connor Palmer would provide a consistent ground attack, moving the chains and getting big yards when needed. (Harrison 2TDs, Palmer 1 TD). In addition to running the offense, Quarterback Ryder Devol would take advantage of more opportunities to throw the ball this week, hitting two big touchdown passes, one to Crew Gallimore and another to Jackson Potter to close the first half. The offensive line did their part to create gaps and give their quarterback the time needed to make his throws. Corey Boggs and Blake Warmoth also played well in their roles to aid the offense's effort. Defensively, the team pursuit was relentless and created havoc all night, securing several tackles for loss and never allowing a serious scoring threat, while also producing one turnover. The Stars were able to cruise in the second half with a mostly running clock, getting opportunities for everyone on the roster to step in and contribute. 7th Grade Football The Jr. High Stars opened their Monon Athletic Conference Schedule last night against the Cascade Cadets at home. The Stars took the ball and chewed up nearly 5 minutes scoring on a run by Gage Miller on their first possession. After the TD , the Stars executed an Onside kick and Ty Williamson came up with a big recovery to give the ball back to the offense. Carter Crahan scored a TD with 35 seconds left in the 1st half and Miller added another TD late in the game. The Stars Defense shined on Tuesday night. Making Stop after stop and slowing down the Cadet Offense, the Cadets struggled to move the ball. The Defense of Nate Muir, Brayden Newman, Elijah Pastore, Wyatt Redman, Spencer Worrell, Miller, Corbin Eckert, TJ McKinney, Gunner Shirley, Crahan, and Austin Harlow completely shut down any Cadet threat. TJ McKinney also added an interception. The Stars continue their MAC schedule on Tuesday as they travel to Crawfordsville to battle the Athenians. Kickoff at 5:30
