The Western Boone varsity girls’ soccer team shut out the Cascade Cadets 2-0 Tuesday evening in Monon Athletic Conference (MAC) play to level their season (and conference) record at 1-1. Senior captain Clara Stanfield started the attack in the first 2-minutes as she took the 1-touch shot off the long throw in from Kara Culley and buried it in the back of the net. The game remained 1-0 throughout much of the match with the Stars maintaining possession and offensive attacks until 13-minutes remaining in the contest when sophomore Eisley Whitely placed a shot in the corner to take a 2-0 lead. Whitely was the beneficiary of seniors Rebecca Rustin and River Roys dispossessing the Cadets deep in their own territory. The Stars defense shined and got their first clean sheet of the year. It was a combined effort, led by Avaline Orr in goal, and a rotation of aggressive defenders. WeBo returns to play on Thursday, 8/28/26 hosting Tri-West for a varsity and JV match-up on the grass fields.
