The 7th Grade Stars opened their 2025 season by making the trek East to face County Rival Lebanon. The line of Levi Nelson, Wyatt Redman, Spencer Worrell, Corbin Eckert, Brayden Newman, and Elijah Pastore opened holes and allowed running lanes for our backs to control the line of scrimmage and clock. Carter Crahan scored 2 touchdowns and Gage Miller scored a 2 pt conversion. The Defense lead by Worrell, Redman, Eckert, and Miller came up with a huge stop with 40 seconds left in the game to seal the victory for the Stars. Final Score 14-8. The Western Boone 8th grade football team opened their 2025 campaign with a win at rival Lebanon, 20-8. Under modified clock rules, the Stars were able to take the ball first and score quickly. The drive was capped by Lukas Harrison (2 point no good due to penalty). Lebanon was able to answer with a long drive that took up most of the rest of the half and add the conversion to lead 8-6 late in the first half. With under two minutes remaining, the Stars would respond with a two-play drive and add the conversion, to lead 14-8, as Connor Palmer would explode down the sideline and add the conversion as well. The Stars were able to get a crucial stop on the Tiger's first drive of the second half, then burn clock on a long drive that fell just short of scoring inside the 5-yard line. Jackson Potter would seal the game with an interception on the Tiger's ensuing possession to end Lebanon's chances. The offense was then able to run out the clock, scoring with under a minute remaining and forgoing the conversion try to walk off the field with a 20-8 victory. In addition to Palmer and Harrison rotating on the line and carrying the ball, the front-line of Tate Fields, Caleb Douglas, Brannon Gadbury and Drake Wagner executed their assignments all night to keep the ground game rolling. Defensively, the Stars effort could be summarized by bending but not breaking and keeping the Tigers behind the chains for most of the game. Linebackers Weston Richardson and Drake Wagner made several plays while backing up the front as the secondary of Blake Warmoth, Jude Anderson (making his football debut), Crew Gallimore and Jackson Palmer were able to contain Lebanon's passing threat. The Stars are back in action on Tuesday next week as they host the Cascade Cadets in their first Monon Athletic Conference game. Kickoff is set for 5:30 pm.
