The boys played clean team baseball, they’ll be back in action with their final two games early next week. The Varsity team hosted Frankfort and completed the conference sweep by defeating the Hot Dogs 7-4. The Stars executed in all three facets of the game at an extremely high level for both conference games this week. The freshman, Easton Nance, earned the win on the mound and moved his conference record to 4-1 on the season. Nance pitched a complete game and allowed 0 earned runs while striking out 10 Frankfort batters. The defense behind the pitcher was impeccable, especially in the outfield. Scagnoli, Reid, and Yancey all made big plays throughout the game in the outfield grass. Freshman Jack Mallory caught and did a great job of controlling the game from behind the plate. Westerfeld, Hawkins, Howe, Kopriva, and Stewart all made plays in the infield. Offensively the senior captain, Gavin Hawkins, lead from the front with 3 hits. Hawkins now sits one hit away from 100 career hits! Nance had two hits in the game including his first varsity home run. Mallory, Yancey, and Howe all provided hits. Quinn Westerfeld hit a rocket home run which may still not have landed! The HR was Westerfeld’s second of the season. The Stars will be back in action Saturday at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette where they will host Clinton Central in a Double Header. First pitch is 10:00. Next week the Stars finish conference play with a two game series against Southmont and a single game with TW. Western Boone currently sits alone in second place in the conference.
