The Western Boone boys golf team returned to Crawfordsville Country Club last evening, this time to face the hosting Southmont Mounties and visiting Lebanon Tigers. The Tigers would take the match, with Western Boone finishing just two strokes behind Southmont for third place (163, 178, 180). In the loss, the Stars still accomplished one of their three primary goals for the season by hitting 180, which is another new low for this group in the past two seasons. The Stars were also able to bring their JV to participate in an unscored team match against Southmont. Of the twelve Stars golfers, six were able to have rounds in the 40s, which is something that the team hasn't accomplished in at least the past three years. Varsity scoring for the Stars for the night: Luke LaGrange, 42; Alex Thompson, 45; Ben Fortner 46; Evan Terwiske, 47. Other scoring highlights of the night included Maddex Gadbury's 49, and Carver Bragg's new career low of 45. The varsity is in action at the Sagamore Athletic Conference match on Saturday at Rocky Ridge. The JV Stars will get another opportunity to compete next Wednesday at Cool Lake when they host Tri-West.
