The Western Boone Lady Stars traveled to Zionsville Friday May 9th to take on Class 4A number 3 ranked Lady Eagles. The Stars took the lead early by plating 2 runs on back-to-back singles by Ally Lewis and Raina Lutz followed by a 2 RBI, “Reached On Error” by Kenzlei Mathews. A potent Zionsville offense responded by plating 3 runs of their own in the first to take the lead. Zionsville would plate 3 more over the next 4 innings and took a 6 to 3 lead into the 6th. That’s when the stars battled back on a 1 out single by Ally Lewis scoring Kirstin McCormick followed by a two out, two RBI single by Mickey Burns knotted things up at 6. Zionsville again responded by scoring one in their half of the inning to retake the lead. The Stars were unable to get anything else going in the 7th and fell 7-6. Ally Lewis got the start in the circle going 6 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 9 hits striking out 4. Lewis, Burns and Mickayla Naanos led the Stars at the plate with 2 hits each.
