Stars defeat Gophers 14-3 in Varsity Softball

The Western Boone Lady Stars celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a 5 inning 14-3 run rule win over the Lady Gophers of Clinton Prairie. The Stars offense got started early with Addi Lee and Ally Lewis recording back-to-back doubles followed by back-to-back Sac Flys by Mickey Burns and Kenzlei Mathews the Stars were able to plate 3 runs in the 1st inning. The Stars plated 4 in the 2nd followed by 3 in the 3rd and 2 each in the 4th and 5th innings. The Stars racked up 15 hits as a team and were led at the plate by Lewis and Lee both going 3 for 4 while Raina Lutz also recorded 2 hits in the contest. Ally Lewis got the start going 5 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 7 hits while striking out 6. The Stars are back in action tonight as they host the Lady Athenians of Crawfordsville with a 6 pm start. Come out and support the Stars as they try to stay atop the Sagamore Conference standings and recognize the youth of Western Boone Little League.
