The Western Boone boys golf team participated in the Kent Frandsen Ulen Open on Saturday in Lebanon. Playing in a field loaded with the top teams in the state, the Stars were solely focused on gaining consistency and improving their score from last year's sectional (also at Ulen). Luke LaGrange led the Stars with a solid 89. Evan Terwiske, 99; Ben Fortner, 100; and Asher Foy's 110 would complete the scoring. Alex Thompson would shoot a 112, as the team would total 398. The group had a very positive first nine holes while playing on the back, tying their best nine-hole score on the season. They weren't quite able to carry the same momentum to the final nine holes, but still managed to cut a full 29 strokes off of their sectional score from last year, to meet one goal for the day. The Stars are back in action on Thursday at Cool Lake as they host Tri-West.
