It took two days and a clutch double by Senior Mickayla Naanos for the Lady Stars to earn a series split with the Lady Warriors of Danville and stay atop the Sagamore Conference Standings. The Stars got off to a good start on Thursday and took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, getting a 2-run triple from Addi Lee, who then scored on an errant throw. They tacked on two more in the second, with Ally Lewis and Mickey Burns picking up RBI-singles, but a brief downpour suspended their game for the night. . Danville came back when the game resumed on Friday, scoring once in the fifth then tying the game with a 4-run sixth inning. The Lady Stars fought back in the seventh, getting a one-out walk from Kenzlei Mathews and a single from Lee, before Mickayla Naanos “walked it off” with an RBI double. Lee and Naanos each had three hits in the contest. The Stars are back in action Monday May 5th as they travel to Clinton Prairie to take on the Lady Gophers with a 5:30pm start.
