The Lady Stars Softball team traveled to Lizton to try and stay perfect in Sagamore Conference play facing perineal power Tri-West Lady Bruins. The Stars got on the board early in game one of the series after an Ally Lewis leadoff single followed by a Mickey Burns sacrifice fly to right center just two batters later. The offense would score one in the second inning but did most of the damage in the 6th inning plating 3 runs on 2 hits and an ROE “reached on error” that proved to be enough as the defense held the Bruins to just 2 runs in the contest with a final score of 5-2. Ally Lewis got the start allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits while striking out 6 over 7 innings. The Stars collected 6 hits led by Kenzlei Mathews who went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs in game 1. Game two started as game 1 with Lewis in the circle and the Stars putting a run up in the 1st when Raina Lutz went yard for the 5th time of the season. Lewis competed 3 innings allowing 4 earn runs on 3 hits and striking out 2 before Burns came in and pitched the next 2 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits striking out 1. Lutz came in to collect 2 outs in the 6th allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits before Lewis came back to close out the 7th. The Stars offense went off in the 4th scoring 4 and again in the 6th pushing 6 more across the plate to secure the win. Lutz recorded 4 hits in the contest with 3 RBIs and Lewis had 2 hits and 2 RBIs of her own in the 11-8 win. The Stars capped out a perfect week going 5 and 0 and pushed their recorded to 9-2 on the season and a perfect 6 and 0 in Sagamore Conference. The Stars will be back in action as they host the Lady Warriors of Danville on Tuesday April 29th with a 5:30 start. Come out and support the Stars.
