Jr. High Lady Stars Softball loses two at Danville on Tuesday Evening

It was a nice evening for some softball, but in the first game the Lady Stars came up short against the Warriors with a 9-2 loss. For the second straight game the team struggled defensively giving up several unearned runs while also struggling at the plate not being able to generate runs themselves. The team committed seven defensive errors in the game allowing Danville to move runners around the bases and into scoring position. Kensley Blankenship was in the circle for the Stars. The pitcher faced 21 batters on the evening, giving up seven hits with one earned run, striking out four and walking just one. Offensively the Stars struggled against the Warrior pitching with nine strikeouts as a team. The top of the order stayed hot, with Harper Nance, Caydence Paris and Mady Monks each having hits in the game. Mady Monks led the Stars again going 2 for 3 and collecting both RBI’s on the evening. The A team is now 3-2 on the season. The second game did not go much better for the Stars ending with a 15-2 loss in three innings. Defensively the team recorded three errors on the evening, but the Warrior bats were hot from the start generating 12 hits in the three innings of play. Offensively Western Boone was shut down only generating two hits in the game. Aleena Beck and Layna Zigler led the team with a hit each. The Jr. High Lady Stars will be on the road again next Tuesday, 4/29, taking the long trip to North Putnam to see the Cougars with a 5:30pm start time.
