Western Boone's Varsity Baseball team started the year hot on a chilly evening at Seeger. The Stars came away with a 14-3 victory in five innings. Quinn Westerfeld was named player of the game after going 3 for 3 at the plate and pitching for two innings. Quinn gave up just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 5. Pitching was consistent all evening for the Stars as freshman Easton Nance relieved Westerfeld with two strong innings of work as well. Nance recorded 5 strike outs, allowed no hits and no earned runs. Junior Levi Stewart closed the game in the 5th on just 14 pitches allowing no hits nor runs and recorded 2 strikeouts of his own. The weather was an offense's nightmare but the Stars were patient and earned a ton of walks. Gavin Hawkins, Owen Howe, and Cale Scagnoli all recorded hits. Kahne Reid and Cale Scagnoli both made tough plays in the outfield that helped the Stars maintain their lead. Western Boone returns to action on Tuesday April 8th when they host Bethesda at 5:30.
