The Stars played in the Sugar Creek Classic this weekend and lost a close one in Game 1 against the North Montgomery Chargers. Final Score was 33-28. It was a defensive battle and both teams also struggled to shoot from the floor. Great defensive effort from the Stars and they made a run in the third quarter to tie the score at 24 at the end of the quarter. Gavin Hawkins led the team with 11 points. Tristyn Faulk had 9 points and Quinn Westerfeld chipped in 7 points and also had a team-high 11 rebounds. In Game 2, the Stars fell to Southmont by the score of 84-66. More offense and better shooting from the team in this game as they finished the game with 8 made shots from behind the arc. Quinn Westerfeld responded well and had 16 points. Luke Adkins had a great game and contributed 11 points. Tristyn Faulk had 9 points. Gavin Hawkins led the team with 19 points and was named to SCC All-Tournament Team. The Stars are now 2-9 and will host Frankfort during Homecoming Week. The JV team defeated North Montgomery 52-38 in their first game of the SCC this past weekend. The Stars came out with a ton of energy and confidence for being off for 2 weeks. Solid defensive effort and balanced scoring allowed the team to pull away in the second half and advance to the championship. Owen Oakley led the team with 15 points, Burke Cavins had 10, and Carson Nicley had 10 as well. In Game 2, the team made a great run in the second quarter against Crawfordsville to cut the deficit to 4 points heading into halftime. The score at that time was 32-28. Turnovers and Rebounding hurt the Stars in the second half and the team lost by a score of 54-43. It was a solid day all around for the team and many positives on what the team was working on over winter break. Beau Sawyer led the team with 13 points. Owen Oakley had 9 points and Burke Cavins finished with 7 points.
