The Lady Stars battled conference rival Lebanon on Friday night, fighting hard, but falling short of the Tigers by a score of 44-54. The Lady Stars came out fired up, playing with intensity and grit from first possession of the game. As the first half progressed, the Stars struggled to get good looks at the basket or hit their shots, slowing their momentum on both ends of the court. The team went into halftime down 12-26, hoping to clean up their offensive possessions and increase their defensive aggressiveness. The Stars turned things around in the third quarter, playing as a team and with confidence, cutting the Tigers’ lead to four points. Unfortunately, the Lady Stars couldn’t catch up from the scoring deficit, falling short in the end. Ally Lewis led the team with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Olivia Reagan with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Jaylee Dickerson with 11 points. The Stars are back in action on Monday at Cascade. Go Stars! The boys varsity traveled to Lebanon last Friday and did not match the energy and physicality of the Tigers. Lebanon won by the score of 52-22. Gavin Hawkins had a solid individual performance and finished with 11 points. The boys varsity team came out and looked much better offensively than Friday night against a tough zone defense of Clinton Prairie. The Stars had better possessions throughout the game and had nice contributions/balance of scoring as a team. The Stars would end up falling 61-51 and are now 1-5 on the season. Quinn Westerfeld, Gavin Hawkins, and Marcus Fortner were all in double figures for the team. Eli Mitchell finished with 8 points and Tristyn Faulk had 7 points.
