Stars comeback falls just short vs. Covington

The Stars struggled shooting the basketball for the first three quarters and had to deal with some foul trouble in the first half. Covington went into halftime with a 23-16 lead. Stars were outscored 21-9 in the third quarter before making a great comeback attempt in the fourth. Stars picked up the pressure defensively and outscored the Trojans 26-8 in the fourth. The team just fell short by the score of 53-51. Marcus Fortner finished with 15 points, Quinn Westerfeld had 13, and Gavin Hawkins had 12. The JV Stars hosted Covington Tuesday evening and improved their record to 2-2. They used a strong last minute of the second quarter to build a halftime lead of 29-21. The team came out with the same type energy in the second half, shot the ball well, and finished with a 55-42 victory. The Stars had eight different players sore in this contest. Beau Sawyer led the team with 14 points. Levi Adkins and Burke Cavins finished with 9 points each. Carson Nicely had 7 points and Alex Velazquez finished with 6 points and had a great defensive game.
