On Thursday, the back halls of Western Boone were filled with shouts, cheers, and whistles as both the girls and boys varsity wrestling teams took on the Frankfort Hotdogs. The teams split the results. The girls came up short, falling 24-42. The boys put together a dominate performance, winning 64-7. The evening started with the first ever girls varsity wrestling event at Western Boone. Frankfort jumped out to an early lead with a forfeit at 105 and a victory over Lexi Mitchell at 110. Macy Williams (115) got Western Boone on the board with a first period pin over her opponent. Frankfort received another forfeit at 120. Webo picked up a second win with Kirstin McCormick making quick work of her opponent, she needed just 17 seconds to earn the pin. At 130, Eryn Higer wrestled tough but fell to her opponent. Kenzlei Mathews (135) got Webo within striking distance of the Hotdogs with a 2nd period pin. Alyx McCormick (140) tied the dual meet up at 24-24 with a come from behind pin over her opponent in the 2nd period. Unfortunately, that would be the last victory for the lady grapplers. Frankfort picked up another forfeit at 145. Cora Somers agreed to bump up in weight so she could compete and she fought hard in the 170lb weight class, but was eventually pinned in the waning moments of the second period. Ava Orr was pinned just past the halfway mark in the first period. And Frankfort closed the varsity action with two more forfeits.
