Star swimmers traveled to Crawfordsville to take on the Athenians Tuesday

The Star swim teams traveled to Crawfordsville on Tuesday night for their second competition of the season. Both teams swam well but fell to the Athenians. The girls held a close meet, ending with a score of 101-82. The 200-medley relay team of Rashel Anderson, Adelaide Jones, Arianna Stieber, and Katherine Aliff led off the meet with a second-place finish. The team of Brooklynn Schiery, Rebecca Rustin, Lindsey Steimel, and Lilly Maners followed in fourth place. Kaitlyn Crowley earned the Stars another second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, followed by Rustin and Maners in fifth and sixth. Stieber earned the first win of the evening for the girls in the 200-yard IM; Jenna Twitty and Hannah Hayden took fourth and fifth. In the 50-yard freestyle, Aliff came in third place. Webo divers took the top three places in the event; Leelah Fettig took first place with 234.30 points, followed by Maisa Kent-Doolan in second with 147.15 points, and Cara Hanna in third place with 132.50 points. Hayden earned a second-place finish for the Stars in the 100-yard butterfly; Steimel took third in the event. In a close 100-yard freestyle race, Jones took second, Anderson placed fourth, and Aliff finished fifth. In the 500-yard freestyle, Crowley finished second, followed by Rustin and Schiery in fifth and sixth. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Anderson, Aliff, Jones, and Stieber placed second in a close race against the Athenians. The team of Steimel, Hayden, Twitty, and Crowley also took third place in the relay event. Stieber earned one more win for the Stars in the 100-yard backstroke; Anderson and Twitty also placed fourth and fifth. Jones finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke, followed by Fettig and Hannah in fourth and fifth. Finishing out the meet for the Stars were the 400-yard freestyle relay teams. Twitty, Stiemel, Crowley, and Hayden finished second, and the team of Schiery, Kent-Doolan, Rustin, and Maners finished third. The boys fell to the Athenians with a score of 117-61. Beginning the meet with a second-place finish was the medley relay team of Jacob Norman, Jude Balke, Tanner Weakley, and Isaac Threlkeld. Norman followed with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, followed by Wyatt Barnett and Daniel Talbott in fourth and fifth. Weakley earned a win for the Stars in the 200-yard IM; Malachi Catterson placed fifth. Threlkeld earned second place in the 50-yard freestyle; Zach Connors placed fifth and Isaac Garringer took sixth. Xander Rouse finished second in diving with a score of 128.65. Weakley earned another second-place finish for the Stars in the 100-yard butterfly; Threlkeld and Catterson also placed fourth and fifth. In the 100-yard freestyle, Chase Collier placed second, Connors placed fourth, and Artie Milliser finished in sixth in a close race. Talbott and W. Barnett finished third and fourth respectively in the 500-yard freestyle. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Connors, Weakley, Norman, and Threlkeld finished second; the team of Collier, Ethan Barnett, Talbott, and W. Barnett also came in third. Norman, E. Barnett, and Collier took third, fourth, and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke. Balke earned third place in the 100-yard breaststroke. Ending the meet were the 400-yard freestyle relay teams of E. Barnett, Connors, Talbott, and W. Barnett in third place and Collier, Balke, Catterson, and Milliser in fifth place.
