The Junior High Cross Country teams travelled to Danville to compete in their Conference Championships Thursday evening. With near perfect conditions, this young team showed how hard they have been working for the last two months. In the girls race, Abigayle Humphrey finished 10th with a 13:13 followed by fellow 8th grader Britney Richwine in 27th place crossing the line at 14:46. Coming in at 29th and 30th were Alisha Manning and Bristol McCord with a 14:57 and 14:59 respectively. Every Lady Star runner recorded their best times ever and as a team they shaved over 4 minutes off their time from this same course that they ran just less than 3 weeks ago. The boys ran next and also put forth their best effort with every member recording a personal best. Ari Smith led the Stars in 5th place at 10:59 followed by Owen Young in 15th place in 11:46 and Nate Muir in 19th place with a 12:06. Rex Stanley continued to drop time, finishing 29th with a 12:45 and Wyatt Delp crossed the line in 33rd with a 13:08. Hayden Trenary and Jacob Nance gave their best, crossing the line at 13:50 and 15:46, each dropping over a minute from the last time they raced this course. The boy's team finished 5th overall. To have every member record a personal best at a singular event is extremely rare but this shows how hard this team has worked all season and with very little rest, the Stars will travel back to Terre Haute for the State Finals Saturday morning.
