The WeBo Cross Country Team competed in Flashrock Invitational on Saturday

The Western Boone Cross Country Team travelled to Carmel Saturday morning to compete in the Flashrock Invitational. The Stars faced extremely hot weather conditions and strong competition against 14 other teams and 131 individual runners in the girls race. Joan Gearheart fought hard to win a medal in 18th place with a time of 22:05, followed by Charlotte Stucky who got 37th place in 23:12, Kate Higer in 25:17 (68th), Janelle Gearheart in 25:20 (69th), Rosie Rogers in at a season best time of 26:49 (92nd), Claire Torp in 27:04 (95th), Jaili Torp in 28:11 (112th), Adalyn Sartin in 30:49 (121st), Harmony Gilbrech in 32:10 (125th), Katrina Brewer in 33:53 (128th), and Autumn Palmer in 34:38 (130th). The boys were up next against 17 other teams with 172 individuals in the high heat of the day. Edoardo Carapia crossed the finish line first for the Stars in 18:26 (36th), followed by Aiden Lester in 19:12 (64th), Brayden Schick in 21:56 (140th), Kole Nelson with a new personal record in 23:08 (153rd), Eli Bishop in 24:47 (166th), and Brentton Palmer in 28:11 (170th). The Stars will compete again on October 5th at the 2024 Nike XC Town Twilight race in Terre Haute.
