The WeBo Girl’s Varsity Soccer team finished their week with a loss at Sagamore Conference opponent Danville by a score of 2-0. The Stars surrendered a goal in the opening 10-minutes of the game after a no call went against them, but they dug keeping it that way until the 2nd goal came in the final 2-minutes (after WeBo had chosen to shift positioning for a more offense push but were caught in transition). The Stars, led by captains Micah Hole, Becca Keyes and Lindsey Steimel return to the pitch next week with three non-conference games: at Covington (Monday), hosting Rossville (Tuesday), and at Decateur Central (Thursday). The JV match versus Danville finished in a 1-1 tie. Danville took the lead near the end of the 1st half after scoring from just outside the penalty box, but the Stars weren’t to be denied. The Lady Stars consistently pressured Danville’s penalty area throughout the 2nd half and broke through with 15-minutes remaining when Ellie Whitely made a key pass to River Roys who then powered a shot into the net away for the goalkeeper.
