The Western Boone Boys Varsity golf team competed in a three-way match last night at Deer Track Golf Course. Hosting Clinton Prairie (188) just edged Sheridan (192) and Western Boone (also 192) in the match. The Stars officially finished third after falling by just two strokes in the 5th place individual tie breaker. Ben Fortner once again showed that he is on an upward track, leading the Stars for the first time this season with a score of 44. Jaice Butler was a single stroke back from Fortner and continues his steady leadership and consistency, firing a 45. Other competitors for the Stars had solid rounds, just missing on great scores. The Stars are back home at Cool Lake on Wednesday, hosting Hamilton Heights in an event re-scheduled from an earlier date.
