Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The Western Boone boys varsity golf team dropped their first match of the season vs. Frankfort last night, 167 - 199. Nerves led to a shaky start as the Stars saw all five varsity players make their first starts ever at that level, while facing an opponent who, conversely, returned a majority of their varsity lineup from last season. On the positive side, several Star golfers were able to settle in as the match went on to post decent opening scores. Luke LaGrange's strong night putting led the way at 47, followed by Evan Terwiske's 49. Jaice Butler's 50 and Maddex Gadbury's 53 completed the team scoring for the Stars. In an unscored JV portion, freshman Nathan Rogers (51) and newcomer Ben Fortner (54) had solid debuts. Having faced a sluggish start to the season as poor weather has limited course and prep time, the young Stars team looks to use this match as a foundation for the improvement that they expect to make this season.
