The fog did not stop the Lady Stars Jr. High basketball teams from shining on Wednesday night vs. the Clinton Central Bulldogs as both teams left the gym with a victory. The 7th grade team opened up the action coming out with a defensive intensity that troubled the Bulldogs all night. The Lady Stars never let up holding their opponents to zero points through all four quarters with the final score ending in a 36-0 win. The team was led in scoring by Caydence Paris who finished with 12, followed by Jerzie Nelson with 11. There were several other contributors on offense to go with the great defense. Kinlee Witte put in 4 of her own, with Abigayle Humphrey, Ashton Pelley, Lyla Kinsler, and Aubree Anderson adding a bucket each. The win evens up the 7th grade record now at 2-2. The 8th grade Stars picked up right where their 7th grade classmates left off, opening the game with aggressive defense and turning that into some quick buckets on the offensive end. The Lady Stars jumped out to and early lead and held it the entire game ending with a 29-23 victory over the Bulldogs. The Stars were led in scoring by Kaelynn Grant who put in a big 12 while also controlling the offensive and defensive glass. Elle McLaughlin followed that up with 7, while Vivyan Haltom and Raina Lutz chipped in 5 and 3 of their own. The 8th grade Lady Stars are now 2-1 on the season. The Jr. High ladies will be back on the court this coming Monday, 1/29/24, at home vs. the Southmont Mounties. Come out and support your Stars!!
