Swimmers compete in first dual meet of 2024

The varsity swimmers and divers swam against Brebeuf on Tuesday night in their first dual meet since December. The girls team fell to Brebeuf with a score of 107-55. Kicking off the meet was the medley relay team of Jenna Twitty, Adelaide Jones, Samantha Jones, and Hannah Hayden earning second place. Kaitlyn Crowley and Adalyn Sartin finished in second and fifth places respectively in the 200 freestyle. Annabelle Mickschl earned third place in the 200 IM. A. Jones finished second in a close 50 freestyle race; S. Jones was not far behind in fourth. Hayden, Twitty, and Crowley finished second, fourth, and fifth in a close 100 butterfly race. A. Jones earned the only Stars win of the evening in the 100 freestyle; Lily Talbott placed fourth. In the 500 freestyle, S. Jones earned second. The 2oo free relay team of Hayden, Crowley, S. Jones, and A. Jones finished second. Twitty took second in 100 backstroke, followed by Mickschl in fifth and Sartin in sixth. Micah Hole and Talbott earned third and fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Finishing the meet for the girls was the 400 relay team of Twitty, Hole, Crowley, and Hayden in second place. The boys swam a close meet and fell to Brebeuf by only one point with a score of 88-87. The medley relay team of Jacob Norman, Jude Balke, Wyatt Barnett, and Isaac Trelkeld kicked off the meet with a second-place finish. Threlkeld and W. Barnett followed with second and third place finishes in the 200 freestyle; Henry Biggs also finished fifth. Norman and Malachi Catterson placed second and fourth in the 200 IM. In the 50 freestyle, Balke placed second, Chase Collier placed third, and Isaac Garringer finished sixth. Xander Rouse won the diving event for the evening. Threlkeld and Catterson finished in second and third places respectively in the 100 butterfly. Norman, Sam Hillger, and Artie Milliser finished 1-2-3 respectively in the 100 freestyle. Collier followed with another win for the Stars in the 500 freestyle, followed by W. Barnett in second and Biggs in third. The 200 free relay team of Norman, Collier, Balke, and Threlkeld finished in second place. In the 100 backstroke, Ethan Barnett placed third, Hillger placed fifth, an Milliser finished in sixth place. Balke earned third place in the 100 breaststroke, followed by Alex Crockett in fourth place and Zach Connors in sixth place. Finishing the meet was the 400 free relay team of Collier, E. Barnett, Connors, and W. Barnett in second place.
