The Lady Stars matched up against Clinton Prairie in their first game of the new year, coming away with a 28-26 win. The Stars started off the game a little bit rusty, getting back into game play after two weeks of no games. The team did a great job of getting into scoring position on the offensive end but couldn't capitalize on those opportunities in the first half. The Stars went into halftime down 11-16, determined to turn things around in the second half. As the second half progressed, the Lady Stars continued to move the basketball well and picked up their defensive aggressiveness, outscoring the Gophers 17-10 in the second half. Despite being down by four points going into the fourth quarter, the Lady Stars maintained their composure, slowly chipping away at the Gopher's lead and executing various defenses to slow Clinton Prairie's scoring opportunities. The Stars continued to play as a team and with intensity until the final buzzer sounded, leading to the victory in the end. The team was lead in scoring by Ila Stokes with 10 points, followed by Ally Lewis with 6 points. Olivia Reagan also added 6 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Stars. The Lady Stars are back in action on Tuesday against conference rival Crawfordsville. Go Stars! The JV Girls Basketball team traveled to Clinton Prairie Saturday to compete for the first time in the last three weeks. Showing how hard they worked over the holiday break, the Stars put on a great defensive effort holding the Gophers to only 12 points in the game while putting up 31 of their own. They are now 5 and 5 on the season and will play three games this week, Crawfordsville on Tuesday, Frankfort on Thursday and North Putnam on Saturday.
