Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The High School Cross Country teams travelled to Carmel Saturday for the annual Flashrock invitational. The environment, energy, competition and difficult terrain made for an exciting morning and pushed the Stars to some of their best performances of the year. Joan Gearheart ran for a season best (22:52) in 29th place, Abigayle Humphry finished 36th in 23:32 with Claire Torp in 37th (24:13). Britney Richwine ran in 27:36, Katrina Brewer (28:30), Harmony Gilbrech (29:49) and Adalyn Sartin (32:17). Despite the girls team struggling through pain and injuries they always put forth their best effort. They finished 10th of 14 teams. In the boys race Aiden Lester finished 5th (17:33), Brennen Bivens 16th (18:24) and Ari Smith 20th (18:32) all receiving medals, with Charlie Jones 42nd (19:30), Rex Stanley 55th (20:05), Caleb Crockett 60th (20:14) and Owen Young's return after missing 3 races for a 74th place (20:37) rounding out the scoring for Webo for an impressive 4th place out of 12 teams. Blaine Ballentine ran for another personal best of 21:12, followed closely by Griffin Johanson (21:15) and Kole Nelson (21:59). Hayden Trenary came in at 23:03, Simon Yarger (25:40), Izaak Harsin (29:40) and Jacob Nance finished with a new personal best of 29:50. The Stars next competition will be Tuesday at Southmont for the rescheduled "Leap into September".
