The junior high girls soccer team took on a fast and skilled Frankfort Hot Dogs team Thursday night, falling to a 0-4 loss. The team was a little slow to challenge for the ball and to win those important 50/50 balls in the air, which ultimately gave Frankfort opportunities to capitalize and find the back of the net. But despite that, the girls continued to match Frankfort's physicality and never stopped competing. Esther Crockett (7th grade) had a fantastic game defensively and did a great job moving the ball up the field to help transition us into the attack. Carly Denney (6th grade) also created some opportunities in the midfield and put a few shots on goal. Eighth grader Violet Hillger came out strong in the second half and immediately put every coaching point from halftime into action. She made strides in the goal making a dozen saves in the second half alone. Although discouraged from a loss, there were plenty of positives for the girls to build on, and they showed grit, physicality, and a willingness to keep battling against a very talented opponent. The girls take on two teams on the road next week as we move into the last couple weeks of our season. Their final home game will be September 29th!
