Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The Western Boone 8th grade football team hosted North Montgomery on Tuesday night, securing a 36 -0 victory and moving to 4 - 0 on the season. The Stars were looking to clean up their execution and focus on playing with urgency after last week's close win, and they were able to do just that. In a game that saw as close to a complete team effort as possible at the junior high level, both lines controlled the line of scrimmage throughout, and ten different players were targeted or recorded rushing and or receiving stats. Offensively, the Stars front consisting of Elijah Pastore, Wyatt Redman, Brayden Newman, Levi Nelson, Corbin Eckert and Spencer Worrell opened holes on the interior for running backs Gage Miller and Gunner Shirley throughout the night. Nate Muir, Cannon Dunk, Carter Crahen and Redman (playing two roles), were able to stretch the Charger defense on the outside to balance out the interior rushing attack. Quarterback Bryson Potter was efficient in getting the offense in the correct calls most of the night and finding his receivers at key points. Scoring touchdowns for the Stars were Potter (rushing TD), Miller (two rushing TDs) and Crahen (two rushing TDs). Adding conversions were Worrell & Pastore (both receiving) and Muir (rushing). Defensively, the Stars earned their first shutout of the season and first for Coach Dickey as he fulfills his new role as defensive coordinator. Easton Banks and Zane Reardon anchored the play up front. The linebacking unit consisting of several faces was able to shut down North Mont's run game all night, and the secondary added the finishing touches, highlighted by interceptions from Shirley and Crahen. The Stars will look to remain perfect as they face the Frankfort Hot Dogs at home next Tuesday.
