The Lady Stars took on the Athenians Monday night and came away with an impressive 25-11, 25-8 victory! The girls came out strong from the start, giving up very few points and showing just how much they continue to grow with every game. It was an outstanding serving night for the Stars! Our challenging serves kept the Athenians on their heels and made it difficult for them to get into an offensive rhythm. Every girl was given the opportunity to serve, and they did not disappoint! The team combined for 40 serves, with nearly 20 of those resulting in aces! That is an incredible serving performance and a huge accomplishment for the entire team! Our defense continues to improve as well! The girls are reading plays better with every game and continue to hustle for every ball. Alivia Adkins, Riley Cervi, Sullie Smith, and Bristol Demaree continue to impress me with their coverage, digs, and determination on the defensive end. Every rally starts with a good pass, and without our passers, we wouldn't be able to get a good set to our hitters and put points on the board! Our hitters were on fire tonight, too! The Stars recorded 21 total hits, including 15 kills that resulted in points for our team! Eliza Baird had a killer night at the net with 4 kills, along with several well-placed tips, great ball placement, and excellent coverage at the net. She continues to be a force in the front row! Phoebe Bruder also had a special moment, recording her first kill of the season! Phoebe continues to improve every game while playing right side, and it has been exciting to watch her confidence and skills grow throughout the season. Things are definitely looking up for the Stars! With another win added to the record, the girls now sit at 8-2 on the season and continue to build momentum as we head into our next matchup. Next up, the Stars take on Clinton Prairie tomorrow! We know it will be a tough matchup, but this team is ready to compete, hustle, and fight for every point! Keep shining, Stars!
