The Western Boone Stars travelled to Frankfort Monday night for a conference match-up, looking to boost their record in the final week of regular season. The Stars came out slow and unsteady in the first ten minutes of the game, allowing Frankfort to score their 1 goal early on. But once the team found their groove, there was no way they weren’t winning the game! The Stars held their ground the rest of the game and entered the second half ready to get the first goal of the half in. Senior captain Hannah Hayden worked extremely hard and quick on the field to send a through ball to River Roys. River beat a defender and went one on one with the goalie to get goal #1 for Webo. Six minutes after the goal, Hannah Hayden sends another ball to River Roys who worked with junior captain Rebecca Keyes, who then takes the ball one on one against the goalie for goal #2. Many other players had shots on goal and created many opportunities on the field, including Kale Conner, Addie Jones, Cadey Ross, Rebecca Rustin, and Lindsey Steimel. The JV squad played extremely well in a half against Frankfort as well, keeping the game 0-0. Brenda Calhoun had three shots on goal and Kara Culley had two in her first match with the team! The Stars contained very well defensively, and offensively connected passes and moved up the field as a unit. They have improved so much the last two weeks to prepare for this week and sectionals coming up. The Stars take on Crawfordsville for their final home game Wednesday night at 5:30pm (varsity) and 7:00pm (junior varsity.) It is also senior night! So be sure to come support the team and seniors! ** We extend our prayers and love to Frankfort’s girls team and the families involved in the car accident earlier in the week. Join us in praying for the lives and families affected.
