The Western Boone baseball team exploded for 11 runs in the eighth inning to defeat Frankfort on Thursday. Tied at 0 through seven, singles from Quinn Westerfeld, Easton Nance and Layton Yancey loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth. Owen Howe drove in the first run with a single, and Beau Sawyer followed with a 2-run double to make it 3-0. After Mason Foster was hit by a pitch, Kane Jackson walked with the bases loaded to make it 4-0, and Sawyer scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-0. Two batters later, Kahne Reid drove in a run to make it 6-0. A passed ball made it 7-0 before Nance and Yancey each drove in runs with their second hits of the innings. A sac fly from Howe and an RBI-single from Sawyer capped the scoring. Jackson was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Westerfeld, Nance, Yancey, Howe, Sawyer and Foster all had two hits. Levi Stewart dominated on the mound, pitching eight innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits and striking out seven. The Stars will travel to Monrovia on Saturday.
