The Western Boone Jr. High softball teams were in action against Lebanon Wednesday night. Due to soggy field conditions, the two home games were hosted by Lebanon on their artificial turf field. The B Team was in action first and got the night started off right with a convincing 15-5 victory as time ran out with only one out in the bottom of the 4th inning. Josephine McNamee went 3 for 4, Aleena Beck had a double, and Amelia Stambro had a triple to lead the offensive attack. When the pitches were not there to hit, the Stars took advantage drawing eight walks. Nova Crahen had two while Stambro, Beck, Addi Gregg, Mae Wilson, Aubree Franklin, and Saylor Princell each had one. Once on base, the team capitalized with 11 steals led by Crahen with 3 and Gregg with 2. Riley Cervi, Beck, Stambro, Franklin, McNamee, and Princell also claimed stolen bases. Gregg had another solid outing on the mound. She pitched all 4 innings with 5 strikeouts, only one walk, and 3 earned runs. Backing her up in the field, were several great plays by Lenehan including a great throw to McNamee at home to get a runner out at the plate. Cervi caught a throw from McNamee to catch a runner stealing at second base. Princell caught a line drive in center field and Crahen caught a deep fly ball in left field. In the A game, the Stars had an uncharacteristically off night accumulating 8 errors and only 1 hit in a blowout loss. Jayden Paris started on the mound with Cora Reagan coming in relief. They only gave up 8 earned runs combined. Sullie Smith had the only hit of the night with a line drive to right field. They drew no walks. Lexi Lenehan caught two fly balls in right while Addi Gregg and Nova Crahen added one each in center and left. Kenzie Mikesell caught a line drive at 3rd base. Jade Hobson caught a foul pop fly from her catcher’s position. And Smith caught 2 fouls balls from 1st base.
