The Western Boone baseball team went on the road and got a win at Class 2A No. 3 Greencastle on Tuesday night, 3-0. The Stars had just one hit in the game, a 1-out double from Easton Nance in the sixth inning, but made it count. Western Boone had just two base runners in the first five innings, a lead-off walk in the first to Quinn Westerfeld and Kahne Reid reaching on a dropped third strike in the third. In the sixth, Reid led off the inning by again reaching on a dropped third strike, and after two wild pitches advanced pinch runner Zach Sprong to third, Westerfeld walked to put runners on the corners. Beau Sawyer's squeeze bunt drove in the game's first run, and Westerfeld later scored on an error to make it 2-0. After Nance doubled, pinch runner Owen Oakley stole third and the throw went array, allowing him to score. That run support was enough for Westerfeld, who allowed just five hits in the game. He struck out 12 and walked one. The two teams match up at WeBo on Wednesday.
