Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The Western Boone Lady Stars traveled to Greencastle last night to take on the Class 2A number 5 ranked Lady Tiger Cubs. The two teams exchanged blows early, but the Stars found themselves trailing 5-3 after 4 innings. That would soon change in the 5th as the Stars retook the lead by plating 4 runs on 3 hits in their half of the inning. The Stars held their ground, allowing no runs in the bottom half of the 5th and would not look back earning the win 9 to 6 while handing the Tiger Cubs their first loss of the season. Mickey Burns got the start and win as she pitched a complete game allowing 6 runs, 3 of which were earned, on 8 hits while striking out 3. The Stars were led at the plate by Addi Lee going 4 for 4 with 5 RBIs and Burns going 3 for 4 with 1 RBI. Mady Monks, Caydence Paris, Kenzlei Mathews, Raina Lutz and Ashlyn Foster all contributed hits in the win as well. Of special note, Lee cut another runner down at the plate to end the first inning and Paris executed a perfect squeeze bunt to plate the go ahead run in the 5th. The Stars will host the Tiger Cubs tomorrow with a 6pm start as they try to complete the Series sweep.
