In a rare appearance under the lights of the Varsity Field Friday night, both of the Junior High Softball teams shone brightly in dominating wins over North Montgomery. The warm, beautiful night led off featuring the B Teams. After collecting one run in the 1st inning and adding three in the 2nd, WeBo would break the game wide open in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring 9 runs to top North Montgomery 13-2. Addi Gregg would pitch 4 phenomenal innings, giving up only one hit and no earned runs while walking 2 and striking out 4. She also threw a 70% strike rate. Lexi Lenehan would lead the offense going 2 for 3 with a double. Also doubling was Kenzie Mikesell while leading with 2 RBI’s. Mae Wilson, returning from injury, would have a hit and drive in two runs. In the top of the 3rd inning, catcher Josephine McNamee would throw to 3rd base Mikesell to pick off a runner stealing third. Wilson, at 1st base, would work with Riley Cervi from her shortstop position to end that same half inning by getting an out on a rundown between 1st and 2nd. Nova Crahen would score a run while Aleena Beck would add two. Aubree Franklin would also score two runs while splitting time in right field with Saylor Princell. Western Boone would not need to bat in the bottom of the 4th inning. The large crowd was treated to another blowout WeBo win in the A game with the Stars downing the Chargers 15-3 as time expired in the bottom of the 4th inning. The Stars pitching trio of Cora Reagan, Jayden Paris, and Addi Gregg would combine for no earned runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Defensively, the stars were highlighted by a play in which Sullie Smith, playing 1st, would catch a throw to get the batter out, then throw to Mikesell to tag out a runner advancing to 3rd. Also standing out were Cervi, who caught a fly ball in left field, and Jade Hobson who made a great catch of a pop up foul ball from her catcher position. It was, however, the offense that would be the star of the night. WeBo had 14 hits in total in 3 and a partial innings. The first inning would include a triple by Reagan with doubles added by Lenehan and Mikesell, and singles by Gregg and Paris. The 2nd inning would begin with Reagan hitting an inside the park home run to the left field fence. Mikesell, Gregg, and Reagan would also add singles in the inning. And Nova Crahen would get her first double of the season. Aleena Beck would go on to get a hit as well. Princell, Franklin, Wilson, and McNamee would also see action as all the healthy Stars got in the game. Starting in the bottom of the 2nd, WeBo would take their foot off the gas by holding runners and leaving early, to cruise to the victory. Next up for both teams are the Mounties of Southmont on Tuesday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 with the A Team playing first.
